Hope's Chrismons and Their Meanings

The Story of the Chrismons at Hope Lutheran Church

During the Christmas season we see trees decorated in many different ways. You may have noticed in Sunday morning worship videos that Hope's Christmas tree is covered with large white and gold ornaments just like we do every year. These handmade ornaments are called 'Chrismons'. They are made of styrofoam, gold braid, glitter and are very fragile. Fifty-plus years ago the following ladies from Hope spent many hours making the ornaments: Dorothy Rodefeld, Ruth Hermsdorf, Elaine Rudie, Jane (Rodefeld) Rudie, Donna Kluever, Alma Homburg, Jean Lande, Rose Marks, Ellen Ullom and Edna Blanchard.
