Faith in Action

The 2020 Chili Cook-off was a great success again!

The total raised for the event was over $760 going to ELCA missionary work in Cairo, Egypt and Dane County Jail Ministry. There were 10 Chili makers and others that donated juice, milk, desserts and others that help set up and clean up! Winners were:

James Hardin - 1st place
Troy Freemyer - 2nd place
Denise & Gary Snorek - 3rd place

A big Thank You goes out to the Chili makers: Gary Gausmann, the Snorek’s, the Haefer’s, the Harvey’s, the Viken’s, Pastor Beth, Sonja, Jim Hardin, Troy Freemyer and the Wendricks. Beverage donations: Joe Nemec, Karen Poley, Linda Marks, Mary Ackerman, Diana Tonn & Carol Wendricks! Dessert donations: Carol Duffy, Betsy Nemec, Jean Lande, Elaine Haefer, & Pam St. John. Also many thanks to all the participants that helped set up and clean up for the event! It was a great day for young & old!

Mission of the Faith-in-Action Ministry: To extend the Good News by personal witness, service, and benevolence in the community and the world.

This group is responsible for the following: 

  • Adopt-a-Highway cleanup (our section is located on Cottage Grove Road from the corner of Vilas Hope Road to the BP/McDonald’s in Cottage Grove).
  • Planning and organizing meals for Shared Table in McFarland.
  • Mountain of Food (monetary donations) supporting local food pantries.
  • Annual Chili Cook off to raise funds for ELCA Mission workers and Dane County Jail Ministry.
  • America’s Best gift card sale with proceeds benefiting various outreach projects. Past donations have been sent to Project Home and Badger Honor Flight.
